Up for grabs is a Rolex Submariner No-Date
5513 reference
3.5 mil serial number circa late 1971 production
Excellent vintage condition case with very thick lugs and crown guards. Original chamfers are still intact. No corrosion or pitting. Serial and reference numbers are fully visible.
Dial is original, “non-serif” with beautiful patina on all plots and hands. Under a certain angle (please see comparison pictures) you can see there is some lubricant residue on dial’s edge but there are no chips, scratches, drag marks, lume loss, etc. It is hard to notice in person, on your wrist, but shown with macro pictures for full disclosure.
Bezel insert is period correct with nice fat font and slight, but attractive, fade.
Caseback is original, it is stamped 5513 and IV.71 inside. There is only a single service mark inside, appears to have been done in year 2000. Case serial number was also inscribed inside.
The crystal is original high dome.
The watch was found with its original bracelet, which is a Rolex USA C&I rivet dated in 1973. The original owner snagged it and broke the last link of it. The watch was then sent for service, but bracelet never repaired or replaced and it was pretty much put away since then and until now.
No box or papers.
