Up for grabs is a Rolex Submariner Date in steel
1680 reference
2.7 mil serial number circa 1970
Excellent vintage condition with very solid case with chamfers. Serial and reference numbers are fully intact and clearly visible. Thick and even crown guards.
Dial is original, MK4 Red in flawless condition without chips, scratches, drag marks, etc. Nice cream patina on plots and matching tritium hands. Original date disk with open 6’s and 9’s.
Bezel insert is original, serif font which has aged to a ghost gray color.
Caseback is original, stamped 1680 and IV.70 inside.
Bracelet is a Rolex 9315 folded link in excellent and tight condition with 11 links, 280 ends, correct PATETED stamped diver’s extension, and ’71 date code.
Watch’s crystal has been swapped with dome crystal without cyclops.
No box or papers. No documented service history.
