1942 Rolex Bubbleback ref. 2940 “Mercedes Hands, Arabic Numerals”

Up for grabs is a Rolex Bubbleback in steel

reference 2940. These are about 31mm excluding the crown.

200,XXX serial number circa 1942 with serial number still printed on caseback, instead of between the lugs.

Dial is original, with Arabic numerals and chapter ring. Less common non-chronometer. Very strong radium readings. Original blued steel hands with Mercedes style hour hand. No relume, no refinish.

Caseback is original. Has clear serial number on outside and reference inside.

Original winding crown.

Strong case lugs.

The watch runs, but no service history is known.
