Excellent vintage condition case with very strong and sharp lugs. Please pay special attention to the sharpness of lug-hole edges, the underside of the case, and between the lugs. The lug holes usually are soft, widened, and deformed due to polishing and heavy wear, these are in their original shape, with very sharp edges. The underside of the case still retains its factory finish, which is usually lost from wear and polishing. The numbers between the lugs are extremely legible and fully intact. There is practically no wear from the bracelet, which is very uncommon.

The caseback is original, stamped 6202 and dated I.54 inside. Only 2 service marks can be seen inscribed inside from last 67 years of life.

The dial is original and extremely attractive gilt with orange patina on original radium plots with correct lighter 6 o’clock. The dial still remains glossy while most of these usually matte out or craze. Another piece of evidence we see here is the “radium burn” from the hour hand. Since it is located the closest to the dial, when these watches sit for a long time, they leave a “shadow” like imprint caused by radium “burn” of the lacquer.

This watch has been sent to LA Watchworks for a full movement overhaul as it was found not running. During its time there, a decision was made to have the original gilt hands relumed as most of the lume was too unstable to keep on and missing completely from the seconds hand.

The bracelet is also original to the watch; it is a Swiss Rolex rivet with spring loaded stretch links, 64 end-pieces, and dated in 1956.

The bezel is original and very well preserved. If you have been looking for a 6202, you know these bezels often show heavy wear or even completely missing and are replaced with service parts. The brass ring and the insert are both original.
