Up for grabs is an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Day Date
Reference 25594SA.OO.078
These watches were produced in 1980’s and the serial on this one in the mid 500’s
Another interesting part about this watch is that it is engraved FRED on the back. FRED is French chain of jewelry stores founded by a Argentinan-born Fred Samuel in 1936. Perhaps this watch was a special order for a FRED client, or it was made as a gift for a FRED employee, I do not know. The fact that this watch was born into the French market is further reinforced by the fact that both the caseback and the buckle both are stamped with “OR-ACIER”, meaning gold-steel in French. These stamps have only been found on French market two tone AP pieces from this era.
The gray dial remains original on this watch, with light oxidation on the subdials. The hands slighty glow still, so probably a service replacement at a later date.
The bracelet remains in tight condition and I want to say unpolished like the case and bezel.
No box or papers.
