1966 Rolex Explorer 1 ref. 1016 “Gilt Tropical Dial, RSC Records”

Up for grabs is a Rolex Explorer 1

Reference 1016 with 36mm case

1.3 mil serial number circa 1966 production with gilt and glossy dial.

Very good vintage condition case with even lugs, fully legible numbers.

Dial is original, gilt with glossy lacquer and tropical brown fading. There are signs of wear, aging, some flaked off lume, etc on the dial. All of the pictures were taken outside, in natural light under overcast sky. No flash or other lighting used. It is clearly brown even under those condition.

Caseback is original, stamped 1016 and dated 1966 inside.

Watch comes on a Rolex leather strap with Rolex steel buckle.

No box or papers. It also comes with RSC service warranty card from 2019 and service Rolex pouch.
