Up for grabs is an Urban Jurfensen Reference 1140
This is a 40mm cased watch in solid 18k yellow gold.
This is a modern variant, probably produced in the mid 2010’s. At a glance, we can definitely see Voutilainen look and feel with drop tear lugs, multiple guilloche finishes on the dial as well as the observatory style hands. For those unfamiliar, Kari Voutilainen worked with Urban Jurgensen in the late 1990’s, during Peter Baumberger and Derek Pratt ownership era of the brand. In 2002, Kari started his own brand of watches, design of which closely resembles these UJ watches. In 2021, Kari purchased the Urban Jurgensen brand and is currently the acting CEO while we await the brand’s relaunch.
This is a stunning example with a very attractive and classic contrast of yellow with black dial.
The dial has multiple finishes with matte black, basket weave and hand guilloche. There is a combination of polished hour markers with matte gilt minute markers. The hands are polished yellow gold with iconic observatory hour hand.
This Urban Jürgensen’s display back shows off the P4 movement gives this watch its mechanical soul. Much like the watch itself, this is a special, refined piece of watchmaking with twin barrels providing a staggering power reserve of 72 hours. The P4 also is a stop-second movement ensuring pinpoint, accurate setting as well as being adjusted to five positions.
The serial number “007” is also engraved on the one of the bridges, both an early serial as well as fun being a “James Bond” number.
Condition wise, there case show no dings, dents, or deep scratches. The crown is original and signed.
This watch comes on a generic alcantara black strap with original 18 yellow gold UJ buckle.
It also comes as a complete set with UJ boxes, manual, and warranty paper. The inner box is missing its “pillow”.
