Up for grabs is a Rolex Submariner “Small Crown”
6536/1 reference with cal. 1030 movement
398,5XX serial number circa 1958 production
Very good vintage condition case with thick and even lugs. Serial and reference numbers are very crisp and fully intact. No corrosion or pitting.
Dial is a original, radium with orange patina on plots. Tested with Geiger counter off the charts. The has turned a very vivid caramel brown throughout. It is very clearly brown in shade, under natural and artificial light. The lacquer is still glossy and has spidered throughout the dial.
Bezel insert is period correct red triangle with black portion having to have faded to a blue tone.
Caseback is original, stamped 6536/1 and IV.1958. Outside is engraved David Johnson and a number. There is no known owner history.
No box or papers. Watch comes with Rolex Service Center receipt with serial numbers matching to the watch. The suggested overhaul and parts replacement was luckily rejected by owner and watch came back as it went there 🙂
