Up for grabs is a Rolex Submariner in steel
5508 reference with cal. 1530 movement
469,XXX serial number circa 1959 production
Excellent vintage condition case with thick and even lugs. No corrosion or pitting. The serial and reference numbers have show wear from bracelet, but still recognizable.
Dial is original, gilt with silver depth and glossy finish. Plots on the dial have been relumed at some point. They do not glow. The print and lacquer are original. The hands are tritium. Lacquer is still very glossy, at an angle you can observe fine spidering as expected and there is a mark, possibly a tool mark, by 10 o’clock plot as seen in pictures.
Bezel is original, brass. Insert is later, but with tritium pearl.
Caseback is original, correctly stamped 5508 and III.1958
Movement is original, appears to be in original condition with “butterfly” rotor.
Bracelet is a Swiss rivet 7206 with 80 end-links. Tight condition with 12 links. There is no date on the clasp.
No box or papers. No documented service history. Watch runs and winds smoothly.
