Up for grabs is a Tudor Submariner from the 1950’s
Reference 7924 “Big Crown”
292,XXX serial number circa 1959 production
The watch was found with damaged crystal, badly refinished dial, and not running. After about 6 months of sourcing parts, LA Watchworks finally got it to what you see now. The movement is serviced, we were able to source a very rare tritium 4-line service dial, and put on the new crystal. The bezel, caseback, and the case were left alone and as found.
As you can see, the bezel was preserved pretty well, and its the original Red Triangle bezel. If you know and follow 1950’s Sub market, you know the value of just the bezel here.
The case has no corrosion or pitting. The lugs still show signs of original chamfers. The numbers are very clear.
The caseback is one of the variations with outer engraving and is the more rare of the two, with “small font” print. Inside is stamped IV.1958
The dial is NOS tritium Tudor service dial with 4-line 200m print. Very attractive patina. The hands were matched to it.
Overall, its a great looking, wearable Big Crown Tudor Sub. For now, I will be offering it for sale with original bezel only, which I value at around $30k on its own.
The watch will come with receipt from LAWW and their 1 year movement warranty, an unworn leather strap. No other accessories or papers.
