1960 Rolex DateJust ref. 1603 “Tropical Chocolat Swirl Gilt Dial”

Up for grabs is a Rolex DateJust in steel

Reference 1603 with 36mm case, steel bezel

500k series case from 1960

Good condition case with thick and sharp lugs. There is some corrosion between the lugs and wear from bracelet, so the numbers are difficult to see, but they are still there and you can make out both the 1603 side as well as 500k series serial.

Caseback is original. stamped 1603 inside and dated 1960.

The dial is the star of the show with glossy lacquer, gilt print, spidering and tropical aging. All lume is also fully intact still. Uncommon markers in shape or daggers. Correct and original “swiss” signed. The dial is sort of a chocolate swirl ice cream and looks different under each angle you look. I’ve attached pictures from various sides and angles as well as in direct sunlight vs. in shade. Hands are probably newer, but are tritium and do not glow.

Bracelet is a Rolex Jubilee 62510 with 555 ends and A date code. Nice condition.
