Up for grabs is a Rolex Submariner
Reference 5512 with pointed crown guards (PCG)
578,XXX serial number circa 1960 production.
This watch is fresh to market and completely unaltered, very original preserved condition.
The dial is MK1 with “big crown” style coronet and typography. This is a rare variant with two-color gilt printing “4-liner”. This watch also has the correct and corresponding Cal. 1560 movement, opposed to Cal. 1530 on 2-line dial watches.
The case is well preserved, no corrosion or pitting. Its been polished of course, before. The numbers are fully legible and well preserved. The crown is original twin-lock. Since the watch is being sold as found, I would like to disclose that its a bit loose feeling.
The dial is original, still glossy but has signs of aging with lacquer being “spidered”, etc. Original silver gilt hands. Original lume. There is some spec on the 1 o-clock lume plot. No relume, no refinish.
Original and faded out bezel insert.
The movement still has its original butterfly style Rolex rotor.
Caseback is stamped 5512 and dated ’60 inside.
The bracelet is original Rolex Swiss rivet 7206 with ’60 date and 64 stamped ends. Fully linked with 12 links and show very minor stretch from use.
No box or papers. Don’t know the service history and has not been serviced prior to sale. If you wish to wear this on daily basis, it is recommended you service the watch and check for pressure test.
