1961 Rolex Submariner ref. 5512 “PCG, Chapter Ring Glossy 2-Line Dial”

Up for grabs is a Rolex Submariner

661,XXX serial number circa early 1961 production

Excellent vintage condition case with pointy PCG’s and thick lugs. Chamfers are still evident, but the case has been polished in past, surely. The numbers are fully legible between the lugs.

Dial is a very attractive and glossy Chapter Ring with nice patina. Hairline surface marks can be observed here and there under a loupe but no cracking, no relume, no drag marks. Hands are original and matching, not relumed or matched.

Bezel insert is original, “Long 5” in excellent condition.

Caseback is original, stamped 5512 inside and dated ’61. Based on caseback markings it appears that it was only serviced once by Rolex.

Original Cal. 1530 movement with original “butterfly” rotor.

Bracelet is a Rolex Swiss Rivet reference 7206 with 80 ends and ’61 date stamp, full 13 links.
