Up for grabs is an Omega Speedmaster Pre-Moon

105.002-62 reference

198342XX serial number

First thing is first. The serial number of movement matches correctly to the end of production of reference 105.002, the dial is correct for this reference being step SWISS MADE, without t’s; but the watch has been found with caseback stamped 105.003-63. The caseback shows similar wear and condition to the rest of the case and it is POSSIBLE that this one one of the very last 002’s to leave Omega and a 003-63 caseback has been put on. Another possibility is that the watch needed a service for some reason shortly after being purchased and they swapped the caseback. Books, online guides, and other example suggest that this SHOULD have a 105.002-62 caseback, but you will have to be your own judge. It would not make sense for someone to swap to a -63 caseback as it is, on its own, very rare and hard to find.

Excellent vintage condition case. Nice lugs with defined beveled edges. Skinny logo Naiad winding crown. The case has correct silver/polished rehaut.

Dial is in good condition, original SWISS MADE, step has been relumed before but never refinished.

The Alpha hands are radium, still active with Geiger counter and have aged to a dark color patina.

Bezel is ghost faded grey DON with plenty of signs of wear, but no dents or dings.

Caseback is in excellent vintage condition. No major tool marks, nice crisp hippocampus, stamped 105.003-63 inside.

Watch comes on unworn, black vintage leather strap with steel buckle.

No box or papers. No documented service history. Watch winds and runs and chrono runs, stops, and resets.
