Up for grabs is an incredible Rolex GMT-Master in solid 18kt gold
Reference 1675
996,xxx serial number circa 1963
This is a very rare and transitional model with 1675 reference and 1560 movement, metal bezel insert but it still retained the case from 6542 without crown guards. This was only done for a very short period of time during the GMT evolving from 6542 into 1675
Superb condition case with very thick lugs and clearly factory chamfers. Clear numbers between the lugs.
Dial is original, with hash between oyster and perpetual which is correct for these watches and “ghost” T’s around SWISS. Excellent condition without chips or scratches with nice orange patina. The hands are also original and early dauphine with gold small GMT hand.
Caseback is original, stamped 1675 inside with 18kt and Rolex hallmarks.
The bezel is original and sharp with original brown insert.
The bracelet is a Rolex Swiss Rivet with ’62 date code and 76 ends. This bracelet is technically “incorrect” for this watch, but it shows the same type of aging and patina on it as the watch itself. This watch was found as is and nothing has been added or swapped by me. It is my belief, that perhaps the store had this watch on display with a Jubilee bracelet and the buyer preferred the Oyster bracelet, so the store clerk simply swapped the bracelet from another watch and let him take it. This is a very common practice during this time. I do believe this bracelet has been with this watch since new.
