Up for grabs is a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona
Reference 6239
1.04 serial number
This is a very early Daytona and I believe probably one of the earliest watches to receive “Daytona” on dial.
The case is in excellent vintage condition. Thick and sharp lugs. Serial and reference numbers are fully intact.
The dial is original, its a pretty rare “Double Swiss T” dial with floating Daytona. The Floating Daytona is already seldom seen, but Double Swiss with T is even more rare.
This specimen also has the early style hands with long Hour hand.
The bezel is also an correct MK2 in excellent condition. No major dings or dents and still retains its bevels.
Caseback is original, stamped 6239 inside.
The movement is original and correct cal. 72B in excellent physical condition. Watch winds smoothly, runs well, chrono runs, stops and resets back to zero. There is a correct “ROW” stamp on movement, which was USA’s import mark, further reinforcing the fact that this Daytona is fully original and correctly came to US market.
Crystal has been replaced with OEM Rolex replacement before the sale.
Bracelet is original Rolex USA oval link Jubilee. The end-links are stamped 49, which is correct for Daytona’s and reinforces originality and wasn’t added as a generic 19mm USA bracelet from Date model, for example.
No box or papers.
