Up for grabs is a Rolex GMT-Master in solid 18kt yellow gold
1675/8 reference
2.2 mil serial number circa late 1968 production
Excellent vintage condition case has very thick lugs and crown guards. You can still clearly see evidence of original chamfers. The numbers between lugs, which are often time worn down from bracelet and dirt, are very crisp and fully intact. The underside of the case is sharp with clear hallmarks.
The dial is original, brown “root beer” nipple with glossy finish. This is period correct and later switches to matte finish dial. No chips, scratches, drag marks, etc. The hands are original and tritium. Nice patina on plots and hands.
The bracelet is a very uncommon factory optioned “President” link bracelet. Only these bracelet with “54” end-links were made for GMT-Masters unlike the bracelets with “55” end-links which fitted Day-Date models reference 1803. The ’69 date code on clasp also reassures us that this bracelet is original to the watch. Furthermore, the bracelet is in excellent condition with very light stretch for its age.
Caseback is original, it is stamped 1675 inside with 18kt and Rolex hallmarks.
There are no box or papers. No documented service history.
