Up for grabs is a Tudor Submariner
7016/0 reference
622,XXX serial number circa 1968 and what one would call transitional dial and case. The dial still carries Rose logo with silver print and gilt minute track while the case is short lived semi-pointed-crown-guard (SPCG) only correct for early 7016, later changing to standard crown guards.
This is a very original piece, coming from 1 owner and very original condition and parts.
Case is in excellent vintage condition with thick and even lugs. Original twin-lock Rolex crown. Very defined and thick SPCG’s. Serial and reference numbers are fully intact and clearly visible.
Dial is in excellent vintage condition with great patina. Hands are original, with matching patina; minute hand is discolored. Dial is free of chips or scratches.
Caseback is in excellent condition. Inside is correctly stamped 7528 and I.68
The crystal appears original, t19 high dome. Bezel insert is original Long 5 in mint condition.
Bracelet is a Rolex 7206 rivet with ’68 date stamp, 12 links, and 79 ends. Very nice condition with moderate stretch.
No box or papers. No documented service history. The watch runs very well and requires no immediate attention.
Most Tudor Subs like this are taken apart and inserts are used on more expensive Rolex Subs as well as bracelets; so, please consider the cost of bezel insert in this condition, the cost of 7206 bracelet in this condition, the relative rarity of semi-PCG case, the condition and look of patina on dial and overall originality while you are thinking about my asking price.
