Up for grabs is a Rolex Explorer 1

1016 reference

2.1 mil serial number circa 1969 production

This watch was found indirectly by me from original owner, who wore it most of its life on a two-tone jubilee bracelet, which he liked better. That bracelet was discarded by me (it was aftermarket anyways) and a strap put on. This is for full disclosure.

The case is in excellent vintage condition. No major dings or dents. Serial and reference numbers are fully intact and clearly visible. No corrosion or pitting.

The dial is original, in excellent and damage free condition with beautiful cream patina on plots. The hands are original to the watch, but when the watch was found, have aged to a very dark, almost black color of patina. The hands were matched by LA Watchworks for better to the beautiful dial for better esthetics. There is an oil spot on edge of dial between 4 and 6 o’clock.

Caseback is original, stamped II.69 inside.

The crystal was badly scratched and chipped, so a new and genuine Rolex crystal was installed prior to listing the watch for sale.

Watch comes as a complete set with Rolex boxes, wallet, punched COSC cert, punched Guarantee, COSC tag, and original hang tag with matching serial number.

No documented service history, the watch currently winds well and runs
