Up for grabs is a Rolex Submariner Date 

1680 reference 

2.29 mil serial number circa 1969 production with period correct red MK2 Meters First dial. The dial has aged to a chocolate brown color. 

Very good vintage condition case with sign of wear. Lugs are thick, show a bevel. Crown guards are thick, the winding crown is original twin-lock. Serial and reference numbers are intact and visible. 

Dial is original MK2 with very attractive color change which is clearly visible both under shade as well as under direct sunlight. The first 2 pictures are taken outside, under a shade without any artificial lighting. The other pictures are taken outside, in direct sunlight, without any artificial lighting. The dial show no chipping, no drag marks, no damage and no refinish. Luminous material is still partially intact on plots and has aged to a nice color patina. Original date disk with open 6’s and 9’s and tritium hands with matching patina to the dial. 

Extremely attractive bezel insert with very fat font and long 5 kissing the 0. The insert has aged to a grayish-blue hue.

Caseback is original, stamped 1680 and III.69

Crystal has been swaped for a domed on without cyclops. 

Watch comes on unworn brown leather strap with steel buckle. 

No box or papers. No documented service history. Watch runs and winds smoothly.
