1970 Rolex DateJust ref. 1601 “Black Confetti Dial”

Up for grabs is a Rolex DateJust

Reference 1601 with 36mm steel case, white gold fluted bezel

2.6 mil serial number circa 1970 production

The watch has just been to LA Watchworks for full movement overhaul and new crystal. It will be under service warranty and include the receipt.

The dial is original, black with so-called “confetti” effect. This is a small detail that can only be seen up close on these dials. A particular paint which was used that has particles of green, red, and blue “flakes”. Please refer to the macro pictures to see this.

Caseback is original, stamped 1601 and dated ’70 inside.

Bracelet is original Rolex oval link Jubilee made by Joske’s during this time period for the Mexican Rolex market and stamped “Hecho En Mexico” (made in Mexico).
