1970 Tudor Submariner ref. 7016/0 “Lagoven Oil Company Issued”

Up for grabs is a Tudor Submariner

742,039 serial number circa 1970 or so production

The watch is in well used condition with thick lugs and crown guards. Clear numbers between the lugs. Has been polished, but original chamfers are still seen.

Dial is original with Shield logo. Has some aging and fading. Hands are original with big lollipop Seconds hand.

Bezel is period correct with signs of wear.

The caseback is stamped with watch’s serial number and below it is “Lagoven”. Lagoven was a Venezuelan oil company and my only guess is that these watches were owned by the company and issued to their divers to use during off-shore operations and exploratory diving. This is only a speculation and guess as to why an oil Company would issue dive watches to their employees.

The watch comes on a distressed leather strap.
