Up for grabs is a Tudor Oyster Date Chronograph
Reference 7032/0 with steel bezel
760,0XX serial number from 1971 production.
This watch is entirely fresh-to-market and was found in an estate house sale in central Florida. I have to admit, its one of the “dirtiest” watches I’ve ever found. It is also the very first black dial Home Plate that I have found fresh-to-market throughout my 15 year career and countless number of watches found. I wanted to showcase it exactly as found. Nothing was cleaned, swapped, modified, replaced, or added. The generic stretchy Spiedel bracelet was what the watch has been worn on, evidently.
The case is well preserved and is clearly “unpolished”. Original pushers. Original twin-lock Rolex crown does not screw back in and and a new tube should be installed.
The bezel is clearly unpolished.
The crystal is most likely original and shows scratches and aging.
The caseback is sharp and unpolished.
The serial and reference numbers are fully legible without any damage.
The dial is original and super rare black variant, all known serial numbers of these references, begin with 759’XXX or 760’0XX, dating the watches from 1971 and the beginning of the reference. One may conclude that Tudor experimented with both the black and grey dials in the early versions of the Home Plate before settling on the grey for the rest of the production run. The scarcity of these black dials, combined with its “as-found”, and without any doubts original condition, makes this a truly rare opportunity to obtain one of Tudor’s most sought after and collectible watches ever made. Based on research, no more than 15 of these watches have ever come up for sale publicly with black dials.
Original hands are in excellent condition with full lume.
Even though it runs, this watch, without a doubt, should be serviced and have the crud removed professionally, but it is good to have it well documented in its raw condition. I will offer the new owner a full service and cleanup of the case through LA Watchworks, which will be paid for by me.
