Up for grabs is a Rolex Daytona in steel
Reference 6263 with steel case, bakelite bezel, and screw down pushers
4.02 mil serial number circa 1974 production
This watch has undergone a lengthy and expensive Rolex service through “Rolex Atelier de Restauration” program which basically allows you to service your vintage Rolex watch directly by Rolex in Geneva. Usually this process takes about 6 months to complete and the final cost is about $15,000. I know, I know, they replaced the bezel and pushers, but think of it this way. There is literally no better way to guarantee the full authenticity and original configuration of a vintage Daytona. While the previous owner invested a lot of time and money into it, you get to enjoy the guarantee of this piece by Rolex. Period correct bezel and pushers are fairly easy to source if you really want to go that route, but as I do most of the time, I present you the watch just how it was found from the original owner, whether its grimey or has recently been through official $15k service.
Very good vintage condition case without any dings or dents or deep scratches. The number are fully legible. No corrosion or pitting.
Dial is original, sigma, which was only made for about 2 year period is in excellent vintage condition. Most of the plots are intact and nicely patina’d with 11 o’clock marker being “flat”. Original and matching hands.
The bracelet is original, fully linked, stamped 1976 date and has correct 571 ends.
Caseback is also original and stamped 6263 inside.
As mentioned, bezel has been replaced with Rolex service replacement as well as the pushers.
The watch comes with Rolex RSC card, still under factory service warranty, as well as the special Rolex Atelier boxes.
