Up for grabs is a Tudor Submariner
Reference 9401/0
846,XXX serial number circa 1976 production
I had this watch listed before in “as found” condition. There was a visible drag on dial, lots of crud, scratched up crystal, and the hour hand’s lume was delaminating basically from the metal. Furthermore, the crown and stem were found to be in need of replacement. So, I sent it off to LA Watchworks where they cleaned up the dial (the drag was evidently caused by the lume dragging partial, not causing any actual damage to the paint, as it wasn’t metal contacting the dial. New crystal, gaskets, Rolex crown, pressure test. Cleaned up the crud. No polishing. It was not possible to save the lume or re-attach it, so full hands tritium relume was performed.
I also left a couple of the original pictures where you can see “as found” condition.
Excellent vintage condition condition case with thick and even lugs. Fully legible numbers. Arguably unpolished with original chamfers with signs of use.
Dial is original with strong patina on plots and hands. There is still aging/spotting on dial if you look closely. Bezel insert is a fat font with faded gray color.
Caseback is original with nice engravings on outside.
This watch comes on generic branded steel bracelet. Service history is not known.
