Up for grabs is a Rolex Submariner Date
Reference 1680
5.11 serial number circa 1977 production, warranty papers are dated on Christmas Eve of 1977.
Excellent condition case with very strong lugs and crown guards. Fully legible numbers, no corrosion or pitting of the case.
Original dial is in flawless condition with original hands. No relume, no refinish.
Bezel insert has been replaced during a past service, but remains an original Rolex part. The crystal has a chip on it around 5:30. It is always important for me to present watches as they are found, untouched, unless absolutely necessary. I could find a period-correct insert, increase the asking price, and present it as all-original, but I would rather let the next owner make that decision. Same with the crystal. Sure, I can put a nice brand new shiny and clean one, but then you would only have imagination to tell why it was replaced and or what it looked like prior.
Bracelet is original 9315 with folded links in excellent vintage condition with 12 links, 380 ends, and B date code.
The watch comes with Rolex boxes, hang tags with matching serial number, original manuals (rare) and the punched original Rolex papers. It also has the original sales receipt from the AD for $565. Additionally, there is a Rolex Service Center receipt from service in 2009, the warranty paper, and the mention of client declining to replace the hands or the bracelet as optional suggestion (thankfully).
Overall a very well documented 1680 in mostly all original condition with very attractive dial.
