Up for grabs is a Rolex Day-Date in 18kt yellow gold
Reference 18038, whereas factory bark finished pieces were 18078. This means the bezel and bracelet were changed on this watch from fluted bezel.
5.4 mil serial number circa 1978 production
Excellent vintage condition case with very thick and sharp lugs. The right side of the watch shows heavy patina on the gold from sitting around. Fully legible numbers.
Dial is original, matte champagne with nice patina plots and hands.
Bracelet is a Rolex 18kt Jubilee with bark finished center links. The clasp code is D, which is period correct to the watch’s serial number, so its very possible that the dealer changed the bracelet and bezel for the customer at time of purchase as new as was commonly done using spare parts. The bracelet shows similar wear to the case, has some moderate stretch from use, and fits about a 7.5″ wrist. Correct “49” stamped end-links.
Caseback remains unpolished in my opinion, as well as the case. No box or papers.
