1978 Rolex Submariner ref. 1680 “White Print, MK1 Dial”

5.4 mil serial number circa early 1978 production

Very good vintage condition case with even lugs and crown guards. Clear numbers. No corrosion.

Dial is damage-free and original MK1 with creamy patina on plots. No chips, scratches, on relume. Hands are original, a shade or two darker in patina.

Date disk with open 6’s and 9’s.

Caseback is original, stamped 1680 inside.

The bracelet clasp and diver’s extension are original. Correct VC date code, someone engraved the serial number of watch on inside of clasp and stamped “patented” on extension. The links and end-links are aftermarket replacement. I supposed the owner didn’t want to pay for a new bracelet when original one started showing stretch, so they got an aftermarket one and swapped the clasp.

No box or papers. Acrylic crystal has some scratches. No service history is known.
