1988 Rolex GMT-Master 2 ref. 16710 “Box and Papers”

Up for grabs is a Rolex GMT-Master 2

Reference 16710

This is a very early serial number 16710. R7 would date this to 1988 and the papers also appear to be dated in 1988. Not sure if I’ve ever had one this early, but must be one of the first ones as the official end of run for 16750 was in 1988 and also 16760’s.

Excellent vintage condition case is probably unpolished, though shows signs of wear. Fully legible numbers.

Dial is original and creamy patina on plots and hands.

I’ve seen white date disk with open 6’s and 9’s as late as L serial, and this one has the original one still.

Original Rolex 78360 bracelet with 12 links, 501b ends, and L12 date code.

The watch comes with Rolex boxes with 16710 sticker, original and matching hang tag, and punched papers from Singapore AD.

This watch has just been serviced by independent watchmaker where they did a movement overhaul. Nothing was replaced or polished.
