Up for grabs is a Daniel Roth Classic from “The Hour Glass” era.
The legacy of the Daniel Roth brand, from the late 1990s through the early 2000s, can largely be divided into three periods: when Roth first established his marque after leaving Breguet in 1989; when The Hour Glass acquired a stake in 1995; and after Bulgari purchased the brand in 2001. Seasoned collectors pine for the rare, early pieces from before The Hour Glass era, which have become increasingly difficult to source and are swiftly acquired when they surface at market. During The Hour Glass period, Roth’s design language persisted, as evidenced by the guilloché dial and well-proportioned elliptical “ellipsocurvex” case.
Reference 207 and “large” size with 35x38mm case in 18k white gold
Early serial number on this piece, Number 12. This example has a very early dial layout, with a larger Seconds subdial ring that overlaps the hour ring. This is a subtle, yet obvious detail in comparison to most model 207 you will see.
I have attached a copy of 1995 ad with the same dial configuration as this. If you look online there is also an example known in yellow gold,
Condition wise, it remains very sharp and seemingly unpolished. The hallmarks on bottom of the lugs are crisp.
The dial and hands are damage-free.
