Up for grabs is an A. Lange & Söhne Datograph.
Reference 403.035 in platinum with a 39mm case and black dial.
Introduced in 1999, the original Datograph was developed around Lange’s manually wound calibre L951.1, combining a flyback chronograph with a precisely jumping minute counter and the brand’s signature oversized date display.
This example features the early first-generation “Meter” dial, identified by the singular “Meter” rather than “Meters” within the tachymeter scale. Early dials also feature slightly heavier printing within the subsidiary registers.
This watch comes on an original, platinum, Wellendorf bracelet in excellent condition. It appears to have full links and fits about a 7.75″ wrist.
The manually wound calibre L951.1 is visible through the sapphire caseback, featuring the characteristic three-dimensional architecture, hand-finished levers and chronograph components, and hand-engraved balance cock associated with the original Datograph.
The watch comes with original early Lange boxes and papers.
