Up for grabs is an F.P. Journe Adjustable Folding Clasp in platinum and 18k white gold.
This is the 19mm version, presented in excellent condition with only minimal signs of wear.
The clasp originated from a collaboration between François-Paul Journe and designer Roland Iten. According to the story, the idea was conceived late one evening in a cigar bar in Tokyo in 2003, where the two discussed adapting the calibrated mechanism Roland Iten had developed for one of his mechanical belt buckles into a watch clasp. What began as sketches on a tabletop evolved over the following year into the world’s first calibrated watch clasp, designed by François-Paul Journe around a patent developed by Roland Iten. To this day, Iten has described it as one of his favorite creations.
The clasp features eight adjustment positions, each separated by 1mm. By rotating the central disc, the wearer can extend the clasp by up to 8mm without removing the watch from the wrist—a practical solution for changing wrist size throughout the day. The outer section is engraved with F.P. Journe’s signature Arabic numerals, numbered 1 through 8, with an indicator showing the selected position.
