Up for grabs is an F.P. Journe Automatique
Reference AN99, which is a limited and numbered edition.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Octa Automatic movement and the “RDM”, which launched in 2001, FPJ presented a limited series of 99 pieces, with, for those nostalgic of the early years, the calibre 1300.3 in rhodium-plated brass, and a satin-finished dial in yellow gold, similar to those produced in 2001 when François-Paul finished them by hand.
This is the first time F.P. Journe used a rhodium-plated brass movement since 2004.
This model was also the first and only time when a 40mm case is used to house the brass movement in an RDM. The only other watch with 40mm from the brass movement days was the Zodiaque. Technically speaking, the Ruthenium collection also had brass movements, but those were ruthenium coated and I would not consider them the same.
The dial is simply incredible and almost impossible to photograph. It is yellow gold with grainy and shimmery texture. You will find yourself staring at this one randomly but often. The color hues change from golden, to yellow, to silver, to gray. Absolutely amazing.
The condition of the case is mint. The strap is unworn and the platinum buckle is original.
The watch comes complete with FPJ boxes and original limited edition certificate.
