Patek Philippe Chronograph ref. 5070R “Rose Gold, Steel Color Dial”

Up for grabs is a Patek Philippe Chronograph.

Reference 5070R in 18k rose gold with a steel color dial.

Introduced in 1998, the reference 5070 marked the return of a traditional, time-only chronograph to the Patek Philippe collection after approximately three decades without one. Its design was influenced by the oversized reference 2512 split-seconds chronograph from the 1950s.

The 5070 measures 42mm and features a distinctive stepped case with an Art Deco-inspired dial layout, including applied Arabic numerals, two recessed subsidiary registers, and an outer tachymeter scale.

The reference was initially introduced in yellow gold with a black dial, followed by this rose gold and silver dial configuration from approximately 2003 to 2007. A white gold version was produced concurrently, followed by the platinum model with blue dial in 2008.

Powering the watch is the manually wound calibre CH 27-70, based on the Lemania 2310 and extensively modified and finished by Patek Philippe. The 5070 was the final Patek Philippe chronograph reference to use this Lemania-based architecture before the manufacture transitioned to its own in-house chronograph movements.

Patek Philippe has stated that production was limited to approximately 250 examples per metal annually, making the 5070 a relatively low-production reference across its decade-long run.

This example remains in excellent used condition without signs of polishing. All hallmarks are deep and sharp.

This example is accompanied by Patek Extract of Archives, confirming the watch’s configuration and delivery in 2005. No boxes or other accessories.
