Up for grabs is a Rolex Submariner
5508 reference
361,XXX serial number circa 1958 production
Excellent vintage condition case with very thick and even lugs. Bevels are evident throughout. Serial and reference numbers are very defined and fully visible. No corrosion or pitting.
Dial is original, gilt with chapter ring. Dial’s lacquer is still glossy but shows spidering, spotting and tropical aging. Not refinished and nor relumed. Very attractive orange patina on plots and correct radium 6 o’clock plot. No chips, man-made damage on dial. Hands are original, gilt with white seconds hands.
Bezel is original, brass, with sign of wear. Bezel insert is a long 5 and has faded to a dark tropical brown color.
Caseback is original, stamped II.1958 and 5508 inside. Movement is an early execution 1530 without boxed in 1530 stamp. Original butterfly rotor.
Watch comes on unworn vintage leather strap with steel buckle.
No box or papers. Watch has been serviced within past months and currently runs well.
