Up for grabs is a Rolex Cosmograph
6239 reference
923,XXX serial number circa early 1963 production
This is probably one of the first Daytonas to be produced, ever.
Dial is black, “double SWISS”, Cosmograph with nice patina on plots. No corrosion, no pitting, no scratches, no chips. This watch has a similar dial to the one you see in early Rolex Le Mans advertisement, without the more commonly seen underline on dial.
Hands are original, thin with long hour hand. The Seconds subdial hand is correct and thinner than other two, also unique to early MK1 6239’s.
Bezel is correct and excellent “hash” 275 early variation. Most of the color is still filled in, you can clearly observe its original bevel.
Crystal is domed.
Caseback is in excellent condition. It is correctly stamped 6238 as should be.
Movement is a correct 72B and is fully functioning
Bracelet its a Rolex 7205 in excellent condition with 71 ends and ’64 date stamp on clasp.
No box or papers. No documented service history.
