Up for grabs is a Rolex Explorer
1016 reference
1.1 mil serial number circa 1965 with gilt, glossy dial.
Excellent condition case which as previously been polished. Crisp and even lugs. No dings, dents or deep scratches. No corrosion or pitting. Both the serial and reference numbers are crisp and intact.
Dial is excellent gilt with glossy finish. No scratches. Very glossy. It is matting around the edge and browning on top at 12. Hard to see/notice while on wrist, but can be seen in pics. Very nice patina with original tritium hands.
I do not believe the watch has ever been opened before me. The caseback was tightly secured on, the gasket is flattened, there are no service marks on the inside of caseback and the movement screws appear to be untouched. Caseback is stamped 1016 and l.65
Bracelet appears to be original Rolex rivet 7206 with 58 ends, stamped 2.65 in excellent tight condition with 12 links total.
Watch comes with original guarantee stamped with serial number and dated 4-11-1965, original COSC certificate stamped with matching serial number, Explorer cigarette card, and Rolex wallet/holder. No box or other accessories.
Watch runs with good amplitude at about -9/-14 seconds a day depending on position. Not bad considering it does not appear to have ever been polished!
