SOLD 1969 Rolex Explorer 1016 w/ Box & Papers

Up for grabs is a Rolex Explorer in steel

1016 reference with matte dial

This watch has been taken in on a trade by the original owner’s son. It is for sale as found with everything that was with it. Nothing has been put together or added. 

2.5 mil serial number circa 1969 production and appears to have been issued in 1971

Excellent vintage condition watch with even lugs. No major dings or dents. Serial and reference numbers are fully intact and clearly visible. 

Dial is excellent and original. Very nice creamy patina on plots and hands. No scratches, chipping, spotting, drag marks, chipped lume. Any marks you see in pictures are on the original crystal, not dial. 

Bracelet is original Rolex 7836 with full links (13) and 258 end-links. Clasp is stamped 3.71. Bracelet shows stretch from normal use. 

Caseback is in excellent condition. Stamped 1016 and II.69

Watch comes with Rolex 10.001 box, COSC hang tag, serial number hang-tag matching to the watch, and Rolex Guarantee booklet which was not filled out. Based on clasp stamp and print date on papers, I believe the watch was issued to AD in 1971, which is common and correct for this time period.
