Up for grabs is an Omega Speedmaster Pre-Moon

145.022 reference transitional with cal. 861 movement, applied logo dial and DON bezel.

328571XX serial number.

This watch was found and purchased by me by the son of Gary Lenahan who was the VP of R&D department for IBM in 1970’s. His wife, Mary Ann Lenahan, has purchased and gifted this watch new in 1971. There is an inscription on back “Gary 5-28-71, Love, Mary Ann”. I have contact info and name of the son, and the future owner of this watch may contact him directly with any questions if you wish to do so. Gary was not a watch collector and the watch was never sold nor updated or changed in any way by him or Craig (the son).

The case is in excellent vintage condition with very sharp and defined lugs. It appears to be unpolished with original finish.

The dial on the watch is incredible condition. Complete damage free, all plots are fully intact and have developed very attractive patina. Hands appear original, tritium.

The DON bezel is in superb condition all things considered.

Caseback is in excellent condition, it is stamped 145.022 -69 inside, has crisp Seamonster on outside and personal inscription above and below it.

The bracelet is Omega No 12 and is believed to be original to the watch, it is stamped 7-70 date code which adds another piece to the puzzle of watch’s history.

No boxes or paperwork have survived. No documented service history, but according to Craig and as evident by caseback markings, it has been serviced in past. The chrono runs and resets. Watch currently runs within -10 seconds per day.
