Up for grabs is an Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch
Reference 3590B was a limited edition watch to commemorate Apollo XI mission’s 20th Anniversary
There were 6,250 of these watches made in the world in total. Within that number, there were 3 categories. Four thousand was made for “worldwide” market and only has the “Apollo XI 1969” engraved on the side of the case. This watch is a a part of those 4,000 pieces. Two thousand were made for the US market only and had the limited number engraved on the side along with Apollo XI 1969. Finally, 250 were made for the German market only and had XXX/250 Apollo XI 1969-1989 engraved on the side.
There is no way to tell which individual number each watch is on the watch itself. The only way to know is if the original certificate survives. This one survived and is numbered 0794
482528XX serial number circa late 1989
Excellent condition watch is seemingly unpolished. There are no major dings, dents, or deep scratches.
The bezel has a dent around 110 marker.
Original hesalite crystal with Omega logo in center.
The dial is excellemt with nice yellow patina on plots and hands. No damage. Identical reaction to UV, so the hands are most likely original to the watch.
The bracelet is original Omega ref. 1450. This bracelet was only produced for a couple years and is a rarity in itself. This is the style which is similar to Rolex’ President bracelet. Long size will fit about a 7.5″ wrist.
This watch has its original limited Omega wooden box (inside pillow has deteriorated), the manual, and the original Omega Apollo XI patch, and the original Apollo XI certificate book with individual number.
There is no know service history. The watch winds smoothly but runs porrly. It shows about 3 minutes slow per day with ~180 amplitude, so a service is recommended if you are going to wear it daily. I have already accounted for this with pricing of this piece.
