Up for grabs is a Heuer Carrera Automatic Chronograph
1553 N reference with blue and silver dial
2878XX serial number circa early 1970’s production and probably from 1971.
Very good vintage condition with signs of wear. No corrosion or pitting. Serial and reference numbers are intact and visible.
Dial is original, tritium very attractive metallic blue color with orange chrono hand. Please note a small paint peel by 23 minute marker. Hands are original and tritium, matching patina.
Pushers and crown appear to be original and never replaced.
Caseback is original. It is unusually stamped on the outside with a number. Based on my research, these numbers were stamped on watches meant for Swiss market and not for export to other markers when made. This is a “good to know” factor and does not add or subtract any monetary value.
Movement is Cal. 15 in running condition. The top pusher is a bit “sticky”, but it initiates and stops the chrono.
Watch comes on unworn racing style strap and modern Heuer buckle.
No box or papers. No documented service history. Watch runs, but a service may be recommended for daily use and wear.
